I decided to can apple butter today and
enjoy the entire process. It took over 10 hours to complete--and maybe a
little more because I was also dehydrating onions and planting apple
seeds during the cooking process.
I will definitely do this again next year...
APPLE BUTTER RECIPE:
1 Cup granulated white sugar
1 Cup brown sugar
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 Teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 Teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 Teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1/2 Cup maple syrup
Add everything to large pot and cook on high for 1 hour
Turn down to low and cook for 8-10 hours
Stir continuously
When finished cooking, blend thoroughly
Can with 1/2 inch headspace in a water bath for 20 minutes.
